Break the silence: Sharing anti-bullying practice in Wales

As part of Anti-Bullying Week 2026, Welsh Government is hosting a national event at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, on Tuesday 17 November 2026 (10:30–14:45).

The event is open to primary and secondary education practitioners and local authority representatives with an interest in promoting inclusion and tackling bullying.

The event will provide an opportunity to:

·         showcase current anti-bullying activity across Wales and celebrate examples of positive work

·         find out more about the latest guidance and practical resources

·         hear from a range of expert organisations and practitioners about effective practice

Privacy Notice

The Learning, Communities & Culture Group, which is part of the Welsh Government, is organising an Anti-bullying event. The Welsh Government will be the data controller for the personal data you provide in connection with this event.

We will collect and use the personal data needed to manage your registration and participation in the event. This may include your name, email address, organisation, role, school or setting, dietary requirements, accessibility requirements, and any information you choose to provide when submitting questions, taking part in discussions, or completing an evaluation form.

We will use your personal data to manage attendance, provide event joining instructions and information, support any dietary or accessibility needs, facilitate participation during the event, send relevant event materials, request feedback, and use feedback to inform future anti-bullying policy, practice and events.

Where questions, comments or feedback are provided during or after the event, Welsh Government policy teams may review this information to identify key issues, themes and concerns from the sector and to help shape future support, resources and engagement.

We will use the Welsh Government’s in-house Events Management System, run by Business Wales, to support registration and event management. The system will be used to collect and manage the personal data needed to administer the event and communicate with participants.

You may have the option to submit questions or comments before, during or after the event. Where possible, you may choose not to include your name when submitting questions or comments. If you do not wish to receive materials after the event, you can let the event organisers know and we will remove your details from the relevant distribution list.

At the end of the event, we may share a link to an evaluation form to ask for your feedback. We may ask for your email address so we can share event materials with you or follow up on points you raise, where appropriate.

Photography at the event

The event will not be recorded. Photographs will be taken during the event and this will be explained to participants before or during the event. Photographs may be used to share learning from the event or promote Welsh Government work internally and/or externally. This may include use in reports, presentations, newsletters, intranet pages, websites, social media or other communication and engagement materials.

If you do not wish to appear in photographs, please let the event organisers know as soon as possible.

We will keep your personal data for no longer than twelve months after the event. This allows us to manage any follow-up activity, share event materials, consider evaluation feedback and use learning from the event to inform future anti-bullying work. If we want to use your personal data for any purpose other than those described in this notice, we will contact you first.

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 allows the public to request access to information held by public authorities, including the Welsh Government. This means that another member of the public could ask to see information you provide to us. We would consult you before responding to any request that includes your personal information.

Your rights

Under UK data protection legislation, you have rights as an individual in relation to the personal data we hold about you. These rights include the right to access your personal data, object to certain types of processing, ask for inaccurate data to be corrected, and ask for personal data to be restricted, erased or destroyed in certain circumstances.
