This course supports teachers in Wales to develop a confident, up‑to‑date understanding of cybersecurity, digital wellbeing, and online safety. Moving beyond traditional e‑safety, it explores real‑world cyber threats, misinformation, image manipulation, and harmful online behaviours affecting schools and learners. Participants examine their legal and safeguarding responsibilities, Welsh Government policy, and practical protection strategies, while engaging with classroom‑ready activities aligned to the Digital Competence Framework. The course equips educators with the knowledge and tools needed to keep themselves and their learners safe, while fostering resilient, informed, and responsible digital citizens.

  • Describe current and emerging cyber threats, including malware, phishing, misinformation, deepfakes, and AI‑enabled attacks.
  • Recognise how digital behaviour, human factors, and online environments affect safeguarding and digital wellbeing.
  • Apply practical prevention and mitigation strategies to improve personal and professional cyber security.
  • Identify key legal and policy requirements impacting schools, including GDPR, image use, and the Computer Misuse Act.
  • Evaluate online content for trustworthiness, bias, and manipulation, including misinformation and algorithmic influence.
  • Deliver age‑appropriate classroom activities linked to the Digital Competence Framework, particularly Health and Wellbeing.
  • Articulate the relevance of cyber awareness and careers for learners in Wales, including future skills and pathways.
