Summary

This course prepares educators to navigate the positive and negative aspects of digital citizenship. Participants will explore technical threats like malware and phishing alongside pedagogical strands including Image & Identity, Digital Wellbeing, and Online Bullying. It emphasizes the impact of online relationships (e.g., online misogyny) and the critical evaluation of information (mis-, dis-, and mal-information)

  • Image, Identity and Reputation (DCF)  
  • Digital Rights, Licencing and Ownership (DCF)  
  • Health and Wellbeing (DCF)  
  • Online Behaviour and Online Bullying (DCF)  
  • Relationships and Identity strand (RSE code only PS3) 
  • Policies & signposting to relevant tools

How long is this course?

This course is approximately 6 hours of live remote learning

How will you learn?
 
This live online remote course will enable you to participate in discussion and activities with other participants, led by a STEM professional learning leader.
 
Outcomes
 
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
 
  • Improve technical understanding of cybersecurity threats and prevention methods.
  • Explore strategies to transition pupils from "passive consumers" to "ethical producers"
  • Explore relevant tools to help pupils evaluate the impact of digital footprints.
  • Completion of an Action Plan to review and update school-wide policies (Acceptable Use, AI, and Safeguarding).
