Enabling learning engagement sessions

Overview

Cost: Free

These sessions will enable senior leaders to develop their understanding of the importance of the Enabling learning guidance and how it can support planning, designing and implementing a pedagogically appropriate curriculum for all learners.

They are open to all senior leaders of Primary, Secondary, all age and Special schools, as well as PRUs, in Wales.

The sessions will be in-person and will involve a blend of presenter-led content and group activities. Each session will be around 2hrs and 30 minutes.

Learning benefits:

  • Deepen your understanding of how the Enabling learning guidance can be used to plan, design and implement Curriculum for Wales more effectively.
  • Develop a better understanding of how a developmentally appropriate pedagogy can support learning and progression throughout the 3-16 continuum of learning.
  • Explore the ‘who’, ‘why,’ ‘how’ and ‘what’ of curriculum design.
  • Find out more about the fundamental role of the three enablers: Enabling adults, Engaging experiences and Effective Environments.
  • Develop an understanding of the five developmental pathways (the DPs) and the positive impact they have on learner engagement, attendance and behaviours.
  • Discuss the importance of child development, integral to the DPs, and how the DPs form the foundations for learning, to ensure learners can be supported to make progress at their own pace.
  • Opportunity to collaborate with other leaders and practitioners
