Food Resilience: Practical Steps for Producers

Overview

Cost: Free

**This webinar is organised by the Food & Drink Wales Cywain programme - and is open only for Welsh food and drink producers to attend.**

Join us for an informative webinar, delivered in partnership with Local Food Partnerships, exploring the resilience of our food system and the role producers can play in preparing for future disruption.

Food systems are facing increasing pressures from a range of challenges, including extreme weather events, supply chain disruption, economic uncertainty and changing consumer demand. Understanding these risks and taking practical steps to improve resilience can help businesses better prepare for an uncertain future.

This session will introduce the pioneering Dyfed-Powys Civil Food Resilience Project, which has brought together local food partnerships, researchers, public sector organisations and communities to better understand vulnerabilities within the regional food system. Through research, engagement and collaboration, the project has explored potential risks and identified opportunities to strengthen food resilience across the region.

Drawing on key findings from the project, the webinar will examine what food resilience means in practice for producers and businesses. We'll highlight some of the main risks facing the food sector, share insights from the project's work, and explore practical actions that producers can take to improve resilience within their own operations.

Whether you're a primary producer, food manufacturer or food business owner, this webinar will provide valuable insights into the changing food landscape and the steps you can take to help build a more robust and resilient food system for Wales.

During the session, you'll learn:

  • What food system resilience is and why it matters

  • The aims and findings of the Dyfed-Powys Civil Food Resilience Project

  • Key risks and challenges facing regional food systems

  • Practical steps producers can take to improve business resilience

  • How collaboration can strengthen local and regional food networks

  • Ways to get involved in future resilience-building activities and initiatives

This webinar is open to food and drink producers from across Wales who are interested in strengthening their businesses and contributing to a more resilient food system.
