Future-proof your forage: Multi-species leys as drought insurance

Overview

Cost: Free

Join Farming Connect for a practical on-farm event exploring how multi-species leys can act as drought insurance by supporting forage growth, soil health and farm resilience during dry periods.

During the event, we will cover:

  • Choosing the right mix: matching grasses, legumes and herbs to soil type, field conditions and intended use.
  • Establishment: seedbed preparation, sowing timing, managing competition and supporting slower-establishing species.
  • Management: grazing pressure, rest and recovery, species balance and persistence.
  • Wider benefits: soil structure, biodiversity value and temporary habitat option for the Sustainable Farming Scheme.

Food and refreshments will be provided and your attendance to this event is eligible towards the SFS UA4 CPD hours.

To book your place, register below or contact the Red Meat Sector Officer listed below.
