Strawberries and Raspberries have a very limited range of conventional pesticides and low residue (MRL) tolerances. Soft fruit growers are controlling most pests by the timely introduction of various biological controls and not using conventional chemistry. For example, raspberries now have no chemical control for red spider mites. These biological controls have been used for many years and are more effective than chemical control, as they can move to where the pests are and breed in the crops.
There was a recent research study in Wales, involving a new entrant grower and a widely experienced grower. The outcomes were very promising and can be found here: https://businesswales.gov.wales/farmingconnect/business/european-innovation-partnership-eip-wales/approved-eip-wales-projects/improving-knowledge
