An introduction to the basics of orchard design, management, and the science behind pruning from Orchard Daughters / Merched y Berllan.

This session is designed for farmers and growers looking to either:

·          diversify their business with a new top fruit orchard,

·          better manage what they already have,

·          or extend an existing orchard.

We’ll look at the design and management of orchards for the benefit of both fruit & on farm biodiversity, and best practice with tools & biosecurity.

If you have an orchard design that you’re thinking of installing, or a plan of an existing one, please bring it along.

This overarching session is designed to be followed up with practical and field-based pruning sessions. The focus will be on apples, pears, and plums.
