Join us for a focused and practical training day designed to help you prepare for the challenges and opportunities of growing in 2025. This session will cover key areas that growers need to consider as the industry continues to evolve, including Integrated Pest Management (IPM), crop nutrition in peat-reduced and peat-free media, in-house propagation, and direct retail.
What will be covered
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Recap
Revisit the principles of IPM and learn how to keep common pests and diseases in check using tried-and-tested methods. Embedding IPM into your weekly crop management routine can lead to more consistent crop performance and reduced reliance on chemical interventions.
Managing Peat-Reduced and Peat-Free Media
Explore simple, effective techniques to help manage peat-reduced and peat-free growing media from potting through to sale. We’ll cover the use of handheld EC meters and lab-based growing media analysis to monitor and tailor nutrition to your crop’s needs. We’ll also look at the vital role irrigation plays in crop health, nutrition, and media performance—particularly under unpredictable weather conditions.
In-House Propagation
Find out how propagating your own plants can improve biosecurity, give you greater control over plant quality, and even offer a marketing advantage. We’ll discuss practical considerations and potential benefits, including increased resilience in your supply chain.
Direct Retail & Emerging Trends
We’ll explore the benefits and challenges of selling direct to consumers, and how offering an extensive product range—such as houseplants—can help meet emerging trends and boost your business.
Whether you're looking to refine your current practices or explore new directions for your nursery, this training day will offer practical takeaways to support sustainable, profitable growing in 2025 and beyond
Key Learning Objectives:
