Horticulture - Scaling -Up vegetable production - 4-day training course

Join Adam Payne of Awen Organics with guest tutors Rita Oldenbourg and Adam Beer of Pitney farm Market Garden and Ashley Wheeler of Trill Farm Market Garden for a 4 day on-farm intensive on scaling up Organic vegetable production.

With a mixture of classroom and field learning and a grower-to-grower approach we will cover a wide range of topics including:

• Techniques and equipment for field scale vegetable production
• Approaches to high value market garden and polytunnel production, propagation and season extension
• Pest, disease and weed management in Organic systems
• Approaches to setting up a new site; from understanding your soil and overcoming initial pest and weed challenges to designing an irrigation system and figuring out your fertility strategy
• Getting deep into the spreadsheets with business, cash flow and crop planning, making crop budgets, and management approaches for your farm

This course is designed for growers who are looking to expand, scale up and source new markets.  It will be taught on site at Awen Organics, North Pembrokeshire. This course is not designed to be introductory; if you would like information on more appropriate courses contact us. 

Course dates - 27th and 28th March then 7th and 8th April 9:30am – 4:00pm.
