Horticulture webinar - On the Sofa with Darragh McCullogh - one of Irelands premier growers

Overview

Cost: Free

A webinar with Darragh McCullogh, one of Ireland's leading growers and broadcasters.

Darragh has 20 years’ experience as a 3rd generation farmer at Elmgrove farm, a 40 min drive away from Dublin. The Farm has a mix of dairy, cereal, poultry enterprises, and grows close to 100 acres of flowers and bulbs, with an innovate online shop that delivers nationally. As well as farming, Darragh is the longest serving presenter on RTÉ television's Ear to the Ground programme, an award-winning author of ‘The Great Irish Farm Book’ and writes for the Irish Independent newspaper's Farming supplement.

Darragh will be interviewed by our experienced horticultural consultant Neville Stein, followed by a 15 min Q and A session, to discuss the following key topics:

  1. Scaling up - Going big and exporting or staying small and selling direct.
  2. Selling online - 4 years on from the Covid Big Bang.
  3.  Is social media worth all the hassle?
  4. Offering an experience.
  5. Taking the plunge and employing the best you can find.
  6. Collaboration with your neighbours (rather than trying to do it all yourself).
  7. Risk of investment and profit - there are no guarantees.
  8. The benefits and power of staff retention through simple measures.
  9. Top daffodil and bulbs tips at the start of the planting season.
