This session will be an opportunity to learn from an experienced shopping centre manager, who will take real life lessons from their extensive portfolio to demonstrate how businesses can harness data to make strategic business decisions.

Introducing the speaker

Medi Parry-Williams is the founder of MPW Making Places Work and has 15 years’ experience in shopping centre and town centre regeneration. Medi has worked as Operations Director for 7 shopping centres across the UK, effectively working with and supporting over 300 national and independent businesses, as well as being a non-Executive Director with two separate companies. Alongside her international experience Medi has also worked with Anglesey County Council Economic Development Department and has a passion for supporting Welsh businesses.

What will the event cover?

  • Understanding retailer trade performance, KPIs and profitability and how this is analysed.
  • the importance of sharing information and trade performance to better understand which sectors are performing / underperforming
  • Producing an action plan including a marketing and PR campaign to support underperforming businesses.
  • Measuring and reviewing performance to understand if actions are effective and successful in converting into store footfall and sales.
  • Maximising impact during town centre events by engaging with the extra footfall through store decoration, special promotions, digital marketing etc.
  • Utilising town centre marketing and embracing additional support available to engage with new and existing customers.
  • Using data available (such as footfall) to make strategic business decisions.

Who is this workshop for?

This session is part of the ‘SMART Towns for Smarter Business’ series but will also be valuable as a standalone session. The session is aimed at high street business owners and managers looking to grow and optimise their business using data but will also be useful to shopping centre or town centre managers looking to support their businesses. The session will assume no prior technical knowledge and steer clear of tech jargon, focusing on the positive outcomes for your business.
