Our Farms Farm Walks - September 2024 – Moor Farm

As part of a unique series of 15 farm walks, Dei, Heulwen and Rhys Davies welcome you to the Farming Connect Our Farms Network open day at Moor Farm, to see and hear more about the on-farm trials they are undertaking as part of the network.

During the farm walk, expert speakers will demonstrate and discuss the on-farm trials on-going at Moor Farm and the following topics will be covered:

• GenoCells with expert speaker from NMR
• In Vitro Fertilization with AB Europe
• Use of Thoracic Ultrasound in cattle with Guy Tomlinson
• Welsh soils and carbon project with Non Williams
• Reducing Ammonia emissions with Sue Buckingham, NRW

About Moor Farm:

• Moor Farm is a 85 hectare farm in Flintshire
• The spring calving herd of 100 Holstein-Friesian cows calve in 8 weeks and cows average 7500 Litres per cow per year at 4.6% fat and 3.67% protein
• As part of the Our Farms Network, Moor Farm are focusing on:
• How can artificial intelligence (AI) be of positive use
• Increase outputs without increasing inputs
• Soil and forage for extreme weather conditions

There will also be an opportunity to catch-up with industry stakeholders and see demonstrations of various technologies related to the project work on various stalls.

Lunch will be provided following the farm walk.

Booking is not essential but encouraged for catering purposes.
