With plant propagation identified as one of the most testing areas for peat-free growing join us for the training day at Hardy’s Cottage Garden Plants, they are recognised as one of the UK’s leading nurseries for peat-free grown herbaceous perennials.
A small independent family-run nursery, they stock over 1,200 plant varieties, including many rare and exciting species. Their floral displays have won 24 RHS Chelsea Gold medals, And they continue to win RHS Gold medals at other RHS shows such as RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival. Founded in 1988 by Rosy Hardy in her back garden, Hardy’s now occupies a purpose-built 13-acre site in the Test Valley, Hampshire. In 2020 we were awarded RHS Master Grower status.

- Understand the methods of peat-free propagation for herbaceous perennials using tip, basal, and root cuttings.
- Have developed practical skills in propagating herbaceous perennials
- Have an awareness of the challenges associated with peat-free propagation and growing.
Understand how to mitigate challenges associated with peat-free production.
