Start-up Session - for food and drink manufacturers

Please note – registration for this event is only available for new and existing food and drink manufacturers based in Wales, not for related organisations, consultants or students.

Aim:

To support any NEW food or drink manufacturer, anyone considering setting up as a food and drink manufacturer, and those pivoting from food service to manufacturing.

You must be:

  • A new business less than 12 months old or an existing food service business looking at a new product for retail/wholesale/direct-to-consumer.
  • Based in Wales and planning to produce in Wales.

Session objectives

By the end of the session, delegates will:

  • Know the key requirements for registering a food and drink business
  • Understand the basic food safety requirements and knowledge of training available
  • Have a basic understanding of sourcing ingredients
  • Have a basic understanding of business planning
  • Have a basic understanding of competitor and market research
  • Have a basic understanding of sales and marketing tips for new businesses
  • Have a basic understanding of finance, costings and sourcing finance
  • Have a basic understanding of scaling production
  • Know more about the support available through The HELIX Programme, Cywain and Business Wales

At the end of the session, delegates will have an opportunity to discuss their specific idea/product with a member of the team at ZERO2FIVE and discuss next steps in stages of support.

Attendance costs

Depending on your company size and eligibility, attendance at these workshops can be partially or fully funded.

The cost for each delegate attending the workshop will vary depending on the size of the company they work for. This is determined by Welsh Government funding regulations.

In the workshop registration form, you will be asked to provide company Subsidy Control information for the past three years and confirm the size of your company. Please refer to your finance business team to ensure this information is accurate as it may be subject to audit.
