About Maenhir

Maenhir Farm, a traditional family-run farm on the Carmarthenshire–Pembrokeshire border, is home to the Twose family. The farm milks 400 pedigree Holsteins on a retailer-aligned cheese contract, with followers, and is transitioning to an autumn calving system for improved efficiency.

The livestock enterprise also includes 15–20 pedigree Herefords and 280 performance-recorded purebred Lleyn ewes, which are MV accredited and Johne’s vaccinated. The flock is split-lambing, with a focus on health and productivity.
Spanning 750 acres, the farm is mostly grassland, with 30 acres of spring barley grown as whole crop to support autumn reseeding. A further 9 acres of swede, turnip, and kale, plus 3 acres of Westwood grass, provide winter forage and help protect silage ground by keeping sheep on dedicated grazing.

There will also be an opportunity to catch-up with industry stakeholders and see demonstrations of various technologies related to the work Maenhir have been involved with by being part of the Welsh Sheep Genetics Programme.

Dinner will be provided following the event.
