Workshop: Responding to Child Criminal Exploitation in Wales

The Welsh Government and partner organisations are hosting an online workshop focusing on the response to child criminal exploitation (CCE) in Wales. It is a collaboration with multiple agency partners to:

  • consider the nature and scale of CCE in Wales.
  • share best practice in responding to CCE in Wales and reducing the risk of children and young people being exploited.
  • provide attendees with information about key resources, services, and statutory duties in relation to CCE.
  • consider achievable steps in the short, medium, and long-term that will have a positive practical impact in Wales’ response to CCE.

The workshop will include participant discussion and presentations from individuals from the following organisations: Action for Children, The Children's Society, CASCADE, Barnardo’s National Counter Trafficking Centre, TARIAN Regional Organised Crime Unit and the Welsh Government.

This workshop is intended for staff and volunteers at organisations in Wales with a professional interest in CCE.

Lawful basis for processing

The Welsh Government will be the data controller for any personal data you have provided in relation to the “Workshop: Responding to Child Criminal Exploitation in Wales”. The information will be processed as part of our public task and the official authority vested in us to undertake the core role and functions of the Welsh Government.

For this event we will collect the following personal data:

  • Name
  • Email Address
  • Organisation
  • Language Preference (Welsh or English)
  • Accessibility Requirements

Information given under accessibility requirements is optional, processed by consent and will be deleted after the event.

How we keep your data secure

Personal data provided to Welsh Government is held on secure servers within the UK and for this event a secure folder has been created that has access restricted to the immediate staff members.

The Welsh Government has procedures to deal with any suspected data security breaches. If a suspected breach occurs, the Welsh Government will notify you and any applicable regulator where we are legally required to do so.

Who will have access to your data

The Welsh Government may share your personal data with the following organisations:

  • The Children’s Society
  • Action for Children
  • Barnardo’s National Counter Trafficking Centre

How long your details are kept for

Your personal data will be retained on secure Welsh Government IT systems for up to 6 months after the event, after which time it will be securely destroyed. We may delete the information sooner if it is no longer being used.

Your individual rights

Under data protection legislation, you have the right:

  • to be informed of the personal data Welsh Government holds about you and to access it
  • to require us to rectify inaccuracies in that data
  • to (in certain circumstances) object to or restrict processing
  • for (in certain circumstances) your data to be ‘erased’
  • to (in certain circumstances) data portability
  • to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) who is our independent regulator for data protection.
