Designing and Implementing a new Grazing System

Overview

Cost: Free

Join one of the farms which is a part of the Farming Connect Our Farms network on it's journey while transitioning from having a traditional suckler herd to contract rearing Wagyu cross weanlings.

Edward Evans, at Hafod y Foel made the decision in 2023 to disperse the suckler herd and alternatively rear calves for Warrendale Wagyu.

In order to keep feeding costs low and weight gains high, the farm have employed the services of Precision Grazing to design a cell grazing platform, having secured water for the system by installing a borehole last year.

This on-farm event will include a farm walk to see the grazing platform in action while Rhys Williams from Precision Grazing will discuss how to decide on;

  • size and location of paddocks
  • infrastructure needed
  • a grazing plan
  • useful technology available
