Join Farming Connect at one of the farms which is a part of Farming Connect’s Our Farms network to discuss all things soil health with Soil Expert Neil Fuller, Lynfa Davies, Farming Connect Biodiversity Specialist Officer and Non Williams, Farming Connect Carbon Specialist Officer at Treathro Farm, Pembrokeshire.

David and Debbie Best at Treathro, with the support of Farming Connect have embarked on a journey to investigate “resilient soils for resilient farms: how do we enhance soil health?” in order to explore which fields and management practices are encouraging improved soil health and microbial activity in order to plan ahead for the future.

Neil will discuss key principles on soil health, giving us an insight into how small, but significant, changes to soil management can transform food production, and can help farmers to restore, protect and improve soil health. His presentation will be brought to life with a “soil safari” which will examine different soils and worm activity beneath a high-powered microscope shared on a big screen.

Lynfa and Non from Farming Connect will also be discussing project findings to date which includes soil health and biodiversity characteristics for a range of different management and sward compositions, including permanent pasture, areas of no grazing, silage fields and min till herbal leys.
